But Jesus said, “Allow the little children, and don't forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”

What this verse means

When crowds tried to shoo children away from Jesus, He stopped them and said the children were exactly the ones He wanted near Him. This verse tells a child something they can hardly hear too often: Jesus is glad to see them. They don't have to be older, quieter, or better behaved first — they belong with Him right now, just as they are.

When to use it: Perfect for a child's first days of Sunday school or church, and any time a little one needs to know they are wanted and welcome.

Coloring and memory-verse tips

  • Say the verse aloud a phrase at a time while your child colors — coloring keeps hands busy while the words sink in.
  • Let them color the big bubble letters two alternating colors so the verse is easy to read from across the room.
  • Add the child's name and today's date in a corner, then hang the finished page where they'll see the verse each day.
  • Print on cardstock if you plan to use markers, so the colors stay bright and the ink doesn't bleed through.
