Mark 10:13–16
13They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.
14But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.
15Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”
16He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.
Questions parents ask
Where is this scene found in the Bible?
In Mark 10:13-16, with parallel accounts in Matthew 19 and Luke 18. Verse 14 is the heart of it: Jesus tells His disciples to let the children come to Him because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. He then takes the children in His arms and blesses them.
Why does my Bible say "suffer the little children"?
That's the King James translation from 1611, when "suffer" meant "allow" or "permit." The drawing uses the modern phrasing ("Let the little children come to me") so kids can read it themselves, but both say precisely the same thing.
Is this a good page for a child who feels shy or left out at church?
It's the perfect one. The picture makes the message concrete: Jesus is not too busy, too important, or too grown-up for them. Coloring the scene and picking out 'which child is me' gives a shy child a gentle way to place themselves in Jesus' welcome.
What ages and settings suit this page?
