What is in every lesson

Six page types per lesson, printed as seven sheets.

Six printed pages of one lesson, spread out: leader run sheet, story page, coloring page, memory verse cards, activity page and family take-home.
  1. 01

    Leader run sheet

The whole lesson on one page, from the opener to the closing prayer, so you can teach it holding one sheet.

  2. 02

    Story page

The story to read aloud, printed beside a painted picture, with the coloring page on the back of the same sheet.

  3. 03

    Memory verse card

One verse taken from that story, quoted word for word, with hand motions for 3 to 5 and a harder set for 6 to 8.

  4. 04

    Activity page

One activity for 3 to 5 and one for 6 to 8 on the same sheet, so a mixed room or a mixed family works.

  5. 05

    Family take-home

A dinner question, a bedtime prayer, a tiny habit for the week, and a line for a teacher to send it home.

  6. 06

    Leader extras

A ten-minute version for a short morning, one part of the story worth more talk, and one activity needing nothing at all.

How the lessons are written

Before you buy, you probably want to know how carefully the Bible is handled in here. These are the rules every lesson is written to.

  • The story is told straight. No invented events, no invented dialogue.
  • Scripture is quoted word for word.
  • Where a storybook usually adds something the passage does not say, we leave it out. Every detail in a retelling is traced back to a verse before the lesson ships.
  • One big idea per lesson for a 3 to 5 child. At most two for a 6 to 8 child.
  • Every application says what God did first, then what we do about it. “Be brave like David” fails that test. “God gave David the victory, so with God on our side anything is possible” passes it.
  • The words a child reads are written for a third-grade reader or easier. The leader's page can be harder, because you're the one reading it.
  • Baptism, communion and what happens at the end of the world are left to you and your church. The lessons do not settle them for you.

How a Sunday goes

At home, fifteen minutes:

  1. Start Here. A minute on your feet, doing the opener printed at the top.
  2. The Story. Read the story page aloud while your child looks at the picture.
  3. Main Idea. Ask the one printed question. The answer is printed under it.
  4. Look and Wonder. One prompt, picked for your child's age. No wrong answers.
  5. This Week, then Pray Together. One line to carry into the week, and a short prayer.

In a classroom, twenty-five minutes:

  1. Start Here and The Story, the same as at home.
  2. Memory verse card. Say the verse with the motions, then try it without looking.
  3. Main Idea and Look and Wonder, using the older prompt at the 6 to 8 table.
  4. Activity page. The 3 to 5 half and the 6 to 8 half run side by side.
  5. Coloring page for whoever finishes early, then hand out the take-home sheet.

Before you print

  • Print at 100% (or “fit to page”), never “shrink to fit”.
  • Choose the Letter file or the A4 file to match your paper.
  • The low-ink file is the same pack with the washes removed.
  • Card stock gives the verse cards their body.
  • Print the story page and the coloring sheet two-sided.

Questions

Can I print this at home?

Yes. It's a PDF, built for a home printer and ordinary paper. Every lesson prints as seven sheets, and you only print the ones you need.

Is it US Letter or A4?

Both. The download holds a US Letter build and an A4 build, so the margins are right either way.

How much ink does this use?

Less than you fear, if you use the low-ink file. That file is built for the sheets you print by the dozen, like the activity page and the take-home page. The painted story picture is the one page worth full color, and the line-art version of it prints on the back.

Can I share it with another family, or another church?

The $24 license covers one household, and you can print as much as that household wants. The $59 license covers one congregation's classes, on the same terms. Neither license allows posting the files online, where the whole internet can take them.

What if it doesn't work for us?

Because this is an instant download, all sales are final. If a file won't open or a page prints wrong, email us and we'll send a working copy.

Are more lessons coming?

Yes, and buying this pack is what pays for them.

Twelve lessons will carry a child through about three months of Sundays. A baptism or a first birthday asks for something that stays on the shelf afterwards, and Little Prayers puts the child’s own name inside the book. The baptism gift guide walks through what to give and when.
