The Story of Daniel and the Lions' Den Bible Story for Kids

This story often comforts children who feel nervous, lonely, or unsure. Daniel did not pretend the danger was small. He simply trusted that God was still bigger and still near.

01

Daniel keeps praying

Daniel loved God and prayed every day. Even when other men made a rule to stop him, Daniel kept doing what he had always done, because God mattered most.

A hard consequence

Because Daniel would not stop praying, he was thrown into a den full of hungry lions. A heavy stone was rolled over the opening. It was dark and scary — but Daniel was not really alone. God was with him.

God stays with Daniel

During the night, God sent an angel to protect Daniel. The angel shut the lions' mouths, and they did not hurt him at all. Children remember this story because it shows that God does not leave His people when they are scared.

A king sees God's power

In the morning, the king ran to the den and called out: 'Daniel — has your God been able to save you?' Daniel answered — he was completely safe. The king was overjoyed, and he told the whole kingdom to honour Daniel's God, who is the living God and saves His people.

A short prayer

Dear God, thank You for staying near us when we feel afraid. Help us be faithful like Daniel and remember that You are with us day and night. Amen.

The lesson, in one breath

Daniel and the Lions' Den teaches children that we can keep trusting God even when something feels scary. Daniel chose to keep praying, and God stayed with him through the whole night. God stays with us too.
