About this scene
Daniel stands right in the middle of the lions' den, hands folded calmly behind his back and a gentle smile on his face. The rocky walls of the den rise and arch above him, but nothing about Daniel looks afraid.
Four lions share the den with him: two full-grown lions with thick, shaggy manes resting on the rocks, and two younger lions lying quietly near his feet. Instead of roaring, every one of them looks as calm as a sleepy house cat. That is the miracle of the story: God sent His angel to shut the lions' mouths, and they never hurt Daniel at all.
Daniel had been thrown into the den because he kept praying to God three times a day, even after the king's new law said he must stop. When morning came, the king found him without a scratch. It is a picture of quiet courage, and that is exactly how this page draws him.

- Color the lions' manes golden-orange and their bodies a warm, tawny brown.
