Abraham's story is one of the great faith stories in the Bible. God called Abraham to leave everything he knew, made him a remarkable promise, and Abraham trusted God even when it seemed impossible.
For children, Abraham's story is best told as a story about trust. Abraham could not see how God's promises would come true, but he kept following anyway. It helps children understand that faith means trusting God even when we don't understand everything — and that God always keeps His word.
Abraham was comfortable and settled when God spoke to him with a surprising request: leave your home and go to a land I will show you. That takes real trust — and Abraham went.
God made Abraham an extraordinary promise. He took Abraham outside at night and said, 'Look at the stars — can you count them? That is how many people will come from your family.' Abraham believed God, even though he had no children at all yet.
Years passed. Abraham and his wife Sarah grew very old, and still they had no children. It seemed impossible. But God reminded Abraham again: the promise still stands. I do not forget.
When Abraham and Sarah were very old — far older than anyone expects to have a baby — God kept His promise. Their son Isaac was born. Abraham learned that nothing is too difficult for God, and that His timing is always faithful.
Dear God, help me trust You like Abraham did, even when I cannot see what is coming. Thank You that You always keep Your promises. Amen.
Abraham's story teaches children that real faith means trusting God even when you cannot see how things will work out. God's promises take time — but He always keeps them.
